REUNION HIGHLIGHTS

MYERS PARK HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1969

In conjunction with its 50th reunion and inspired by the great examples of earlier classes, the Myers Park High School Class of 1969 undertook as its class reunion project to raise funds for the Myers Park High School Foundation.  The 15-person fundraising committee, ably led by Baxter Hayes and Jan Hall Brown, raised roughly $137,400.00.  "The Class of 1969 was very generous in support of the Foundation and the students it serves," Baxter said.  "Most of the classmates we contacted were more than happy to contribute to an organization that provides direct assistance to motivate and educationally support students whose family economic circumstances are below the federally-established poverty line.  The Foundation made it an easy sell, providing encouragement and materials."

Class of 1968 Raises Over $105,000

As part of their 50th reunion celebration, Myers Park alumni in the Class of 1968 gave generously to today's Mustangs by contributing over $105,000 to the Foundation.  George Wilson, who organized the class effort to support the Foundation, said "Our classmates genuinely believed that each one of them could be a part of their class changing lives at Myers Park High School, their high school, 50 years later.  There is something truly compelling about helping someone who is walking the same halls I did, who has nowhere near the advantages I had, succeed in perhaps the most important years of their life."

We are grateful the Class of 1968 joins many other alumni classes who have chosen to celebrate graduation by giving back generously.

Class of '66 Gives to Foundation

In a night filled with laughter and warm reunions, the Myers Park High School Class of 1966 generously gave to the Myers Park High School Foundation as their class gift. Raising about $89,000, the Class of '66 gathered together to present the celebratory check to the Foundation Board. And that generous amount grew as classmates continued to raise the final total!

As class member Wanda Musgrave stated, the class wanted to give "more than bricks and mortar." The Class of '66 contributed to the future of current and future students, making a difference for the generations of Mustangs to come.
